St. Jacut de la Mer (25 mins)

Only 25 minutes drive away you will find the beautiful seaside town of St. Jacut de la Mer. This wonderful peninsular has at least 7 beaches. The main beach is better suited for children whilst the beaches on the left hand side of the peninsular are more secluded. The tide goes out a long way here but when it does there is a great opportunity to walk out to l’île des Ébihens which is quite a way but worth it, it's quite spectacular.

Lancieux (20 mins)

Lancieux, Plage St. Sieu is one of the better beaches if you have young children with you. There are toilettes, cafe's and the beach is easily accessible. Like all of the beaches in this area it has the perfect sand for castles.

There is also another lovely beach to discover at Lanciaux called La Briantais. It is absolutely worth a visit as it is backed by a nature reserve and dunes, it's very pretty but you do have to get the tide times right as the tide goes out a long way down the estuary.

Dinard

The beaches are lined with stripped tents and bordered by promenades. The impressive Gothic mansions which line the coastal walks were Hitchcock's inspiration for the house featured in "phyco" but don't be scared, Dinard is a lovely seaside town. Dinard is also known also as the "Cannes of the North" as it hosts the British Film Festival in the early days of October every year.For romantic couples, take the "promenade de clair de la lune" (full moon walk) along the coast and enjoy the music as you go. The fruit and vegetable market is on every morning. For the children there are lovely sandy beaches and the "Grand Aquarium" is just outside the town on the way to St. Malo.

Saint-Cast Le Guildo (25 mins)

Another popular beach for families is St-Cast LeGuildo. A true seaside resort, St.-Cast has many small beaches but the main bay provides activities for children and toddlers all through the summer months. It's a beautiful place with shops, cafe's and bars.

Erquy (40 mins)

Erquy boasts 11 beaches of all types. The sand here is golden and the food great it is the main fishing port for scallops and is the birthplace of the famous French dish "Coquilles St. Jacques". The walks along the cliff paths are magnificent and the path leads to some wonderful seclude bays. It's well worth a visit for people who love to walk and dine especially in September when the heather covers the national parkland. Spectacular.

Cote Granite Rose (Pink Granite Coast)

For those who don't mind the drive, perhaps more for couples, a drive to the Pink Granit coast would be worth the day out. Arriving in the area, head for the the lighthouse at Ploumanac'h and walk towards Perros Guirec. The huge pink granit boulders have been softened into sculpted boulders which teter on top of one another. It's irresistable not to try to catch the colour and softness on camera but it's not the same as visiting this beautiful part of the coast.
